THE BASICS
INTERNET: The password is 'beachbum’. The house is equipped with its very own super-quick Starlink router. Please select the Casa Hibisco network, sit back, and surf your heart out.
KEYS: Upon arrival, you'll receive a set of keys for the front door. These little metal lifesavers are your responsibility during your stay. Please keep track of them like you would your favorite sunglasses
SMOKING: We are a non–smoking house. If you decide to light one up in your room, the smoke cleaning fee is $250 + tax. But we promise you, a walk around the beach is way more fun.
PETS & PARTIES: We love four-legged friends, but Casa Hibisco has a strict no-pets policy. With our open design and no gates, it's too easy for curious creatures to wander off into the wild, and nobody wants that kind of vacation drama. Similarly, while we're all for good vibes, large gatherings and parties are a big no no here. The house is designed as a retreat where ocean sounds outclass sound systems.

THE BASICS
GRILL MASTER: Casa Hibisco has a charcoal grill ready for your culinary adventures. Just let our staff know when you're in the mood for grilling and they'll handle the fire-starting ritual.
WATER: The house is equipped with filtered drinking water. Find the dispenser in the pantry next to the beverage fridge, it serves up both hot and cold options. We keep pitchers of fresh water in your room, magically refilled daily. The bathroom showers and bathtubs also feature hot water for your bathing pleasure. But if we experience a power outage, the water system takes a break too — perfect excuse for a dip in the pool or ocean.
ZZZZ’s: King size orthopedic mattresses, 600-thread count cotton sheets, goose down pillows, linen duvet covers, cotton mosquito net canopy, ocean soundtrack and air conditioning promise the best sleep in El Paredon. If you are melting / freezing, please adjust the temperature using the +/- buttons on the remote control hanging on the wall by your room's entrance.

GOOD TO KNOW
BEACH ETIQUETTE: The black volcanic beaches are El Paredón’s crown jewel, beloved by locals and visitors alike. Treat them like royalty—no littering and no glass bottles. Bring bug spray at sunset or the sandflies will ruin the moment!
CASH IS KING: While some trendy spots take cards, cash is your golden ticket for street food, surf lessons, and fresh seafood. Make sure you bring enough Guatemalan quetzales, as there's currently only one ATM in El Paredón inside the Super 24 convenience store in town, but it's notoriously temperamental — sometimes working, sometimes not.
ISLAND TIME IS REAL: Things move slowly here, and that’s the beauty of it. Life in El Paredón is casual and unhurried. Whether you’re waiting for a fresh coconut or a tuk-tuk ride, just relax—it’s all part of the charm.
SURFER’S PARADISE: El Paredón’s surf breaks are legendary. If you’re still figuring out which way to hold a board, take a lesson from one of the many surf schools in the area.

GOOD TO KNOW
ROAD RULES: In El Paredón, traffic is scarce, but don’t expect clearly marked pedestrian crossings or sidewalks. Tuk-tuks will zip you around town for a few quetzales. Just make sure to negotiate your fare before hopping in! Let us know if you’d like us to call you one. As always, be safe, use good judgment and ride at your own risk.
SÍ, HABLO ESPAÑOL: While speaking Spanish isn’t essential, a smile and a little effort go a long way. Practice saying gracias and hola — it might just score you a bigger scoop of mango sorbet at the local heladería.
WEATHER: With sunshine nearly year-round, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard. Expect a tropical climate with occasional rain showers during the wet season (May–October). Due to our luxurious but wild location, occasional power outages may occur during storms. Pack light clothing, sunscreen, and bug spray for the evenings.
