WELCOME GUIDE

Bienvenidos

Casa Hibisco is a beachfront paradise in El Paredón, Guatemala where modern architecture meets local craftsmanship, and where every element was designed with love and chosen to live in harmony with its environment.

Expect sunrises that awaken the soul and sunsets that paint the sky hibiscus. Expect the sound of the Pacific as nature's playlist, an infinity pool that melts into the horizon, hammocks that embrace, and open spaces where the breeze dances and the stars reveal their secrets.

Here, time moves to the rhythm of the ocean, not the clock. There is no rush; there is presence. Casa Hibisco is luxurious but authentic — a sanctuary that honors ancient wisdom, where you can find peace, creativity and stillness.

THE BASICS

CHECK IN — CHECK OUT:

We welcome you at 3:00pm and say goodbye at 11:00am. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later than our check-in/check-out times, the fee starts at $100.

INTERNET:

The password is 'beachbum'. The house has its own Starlink antenna. Please select the network Casa Hibisco.

KEYS:

On arrival, you'll receive a set of keys for the front door. Please keep them safe.

LUGGAGE:

Our staff is happy to help you unload and settle your belongings when you arrive.

WATER & POWER:

The house has drinking water available from the dispenser in the pantry (hot and cold), plus pitchers in your room that we refill daily. Power outages are normal in El Paredón and part of its charm, thanks to tropical storms. Casa Hibisco has solar panels and backup batteries that keep the lights, water, and kitchen running during outages (A/C excluded). Every room has emergency solar lamps in the closets. Service is usually restored within a few hours.

THE KITCHEN:

To elevate your experience at Casa Hibisco, we offer a small menu of breakfasts, ceviches, and dishes made to share slowly by the pool. We also deliver fresh seafood straight from El Paredón's fishermen. And for the hours in between, there are beverage kits and a selection of local pleasures from Guatemalan makers. Full menus and pricing here.

HOUSE RULES

NO PETS:

Casa Hibisco is a pet-free property. Our open, door-free design makes it unsafe for animals, and we cannot make exceptions. Arriving with a pet, or bringing one onto the property during your stay, will result in the immediate termination of your reservation without a refund.

GUESTS ONLY:

Casa Hibisco sleeps up to 10. Access to the property is limited to registered guests only. Outside visitors are not permitted without prior approval. Any additional guest beyond the 10 permitted will incur a charge of $100 USD per person, per night.

NO SMOKING:

Casa Hibisco is a non-smoking property. If you choose to smoke in any of the bedrooms, the cleaning charge is $250. Smoking on the beach is much more fun.

MUSIC VOLUME:

At Casa Hibisco we cultivate a calm atmosphere — we're a quiet place. Please keep music at a considerate volume, especially after 9:00pm, out of respect for our neighbors.
NO PARTIES OR EVENTS:

We're all for good vibes, but large gatherings, events, and parties aren't allowed. Casa Hibisco is designed as a sanctuary where the sound of the ocean outplays any sound system. If these rules aren't respected, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation without a refund.

RESPECT FOR OUR STAFF:

Our team works to make your stay exceptional. We ask that all guests treat our staff with respect and courtesy at all times. Disrespectful or abusive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the early termination of your stay without a refund.

FIRE HAZARDS:

For safety reasons, bonfires, candles, and fireworks are strictly prohibited.

SUPERVISING CHILDREN:

Children remain the responsibility of guests at all times. Staff cannot be asked to look after children. For their safety, please supervise children throughout your stay and must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

Personal photos and videos are yours to take and share — we love seeing them on Instagram. Commercial photography, video or drones are not permitted.

HOUSE CARE

CARING FOR THE FURNITURE:

  • Please don't place hot objects directly on surfaces. Use the coasters and placemats provided to protect tables and other delicate surfaces.
  • Please avoid moving heavy or statement furniture. Smaller items like chairs can be adjusted for your comfort, but should be returned to their original position at the end of your stay.
  • If sofas, beds, or other furniture are stained with substances that are difficult to remove (blood, red wine, dyes, oils, and so on), or suffer damage requiring professional service, an additional fee will be charged based on the severity of the damage and the cost of restoration.
  • If any item in the house is broken or lost, an additional charge will apply based on the value of the item.
  • If you find something that isn't working properly, or have questions about how to use an appliance, please get in touch.
  • PROPER USE OF TOWELS AND LINENS:

  • Please don't use towels or sheets to clean shoes or floors, or to remove makeup. Damage or loss fee: $25 per towel.
  • Our team will replace your towels only if you leave them inside the tall wicker baskets.
  • Bed linens are changed every third day, unless you'd prefer sooner — just let us know.

  • AIR CONDITIONING:

  • Every bedroom has air conditioning for your comfort. Please adjust the temperature using the +/- buttons on the remote hanging on the wall beside the bedroom entrance. To conserve energy, please try to turn the A/C off when you're not in the room.

  • USING THE GRILL:

  • Casa Hibisco has a charcoal grill ready for your culinary adventures, and includes 2 complimentary bags of charcoal.
  • Additional charcoal is available for $5 per 1-pound bag.
  • Please never leave the fire unattended.

  • HOUSE CARE

    USING THE POOL:

  • No glass items are permitted inside the pool. Should an accident occur, a $250 charge applies for the draining and specialized cleaning required to keep all guests safe.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • Please don't add oils, sunblock, soaps, or any other products to the water, as they can damage the filtration system.

  • TO THE BEACH:

  • Direct beach access is available to our guests. The Pacific here is beautiful and powerful, with strong currents and no lifeguard on duty. Guests swim at their own risk.
  • For your safety, we recommend against swimming in the ocean at night or during high tide. Children must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times.
  • The volcanic beach is El Paredón's crown jewel. Treat it like royalty — no litter, no glass bottles, no plastic.
  • We recommend bringing insect repellent for the evenings.

  • GUEST SERVICES
